Wine and Gourmet Delights Picnic

Discover the Marlborough region and some of the local produce and delicacies matching the very best of wine in a relaxing and picturesque picnic setting.

We will be preferably outdoors in the sunny summers we boast. Summer rain or a little wind we can take you indoors to still partake of a luscious picnic with spectacular landscape surrounds or even a secluded bay overlooking the Queen Charlotte or Pelorus Sound.

Picnic options are provided by experienced local chefs in delicious seafood of green mussels, salmon, local style fish and chips, croissants with local cheeses, local breads, chutneys and garlic noir to complement. Fresh salads from our local herb gardens with some of our farmers delights.

The farmers market is held on a Sunday 9am-12pm in the summer and in the town centre during winter. A visit is a must with pine nuts and honey and much more.

The Marlborough Wine region is the largest exporter and grower of wine in New Zealand and of course your picnic can include red and white wine even local beer or non-alcoholic if required. Not to mention boutique chocolate!!!

All is inclusive for your special day in Marlborough. Wineries are open for wine tasting and at time of writing many are choosing to stay closed in the restaurants, however by the time you book your tour there will be much choice and for the wineries who welcome you everyday of the year we will certainly make a visit. Two to three wineries would fit well with your picnic options.

You may like a wander around one of our award-winning gardens or parks, or a meander along our Pacific Ocean beach of Cloudy Bay. Magnificent high-top views of vineyards, the sea to the horizon and Wellington on a clear day.

Scenic options around the Bays of the Marlborough Sounds are also a perfect picnic jaunt and a round trip back to your ship. Your tour allows plenty of time to suit your ship schedule departing Picton.

Instructions

• Allow 1.5 to 2 hours from arrival at to us at bus stop. Most ships this season start time will be from 11am or later. Take an early shuttle meeting us no less that 30 minutes prior
• Please not that while the tour is listed as a six hour duration, we adjust the tours to suit the ships time schedule in port as this can vary. You will always be back at the ship in plenty of time. The variation of tour start and end time reflects any ship delays or any waiting time for you to disembark. We endeavour to leave on the stated time on your voucher. Even earlier is possible if everyone has arrived.

Restrictions

• While we do offer a child rate of $99.00 for children 7-15 years old this tour is really suited to adults and we feel that young children may not enjoy the trip and so disrupt the enjoyment of others. If you wish to travel as a family group then please request an exclusive booking.
• Wine tasting is only available for adults 18 years and over.

Options

• These tours are usually operated using a six or nine seat passenger mini bus. Please contact us for a quotation if you require 12 19 passengers or even up to 49 passengers.
• We offer an option to visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre for all or some of the group. View: www.omaka.org.nz for details. Entry is apporximately $30 per adult. Please advise at time of booking your tour that you wish to include this option.
